As of Monday, July 13th, 2020, all six of our City Optical locations have reopened for business.  Business hours vary by location so please visit our Locations page for operating hours by location.

City Optical has implemented extra health and safety protocols recommended by Health Canada and the College of Opticians to ensure the health and safety of all our customers and staff at all times.  They are as follows but not limited to:


  • Face masks and gloves must be worn by staff and customers at all times when in the store.  If you do not have gloves or a mask we will provide both to you before entering the premises.

  • The number of customers in the store at one time will be limited and social distancing (6 feet/2 meters) must be observed at all times. 

  • All eyeglass frames handled by customers and staff will be disinfected and sanitized before use by the next customer.  Staff will assist customers with selecting frames.

  • Door handles, countertops, telephones, credit card machines, keyboards and all other high-touch areas will be cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis throughout the day.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or are living with someone that has symptoms or you have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or someone who has travelled outside of Ontario within the past 14 days, please postpone your visit for another time.  Thank you.




We know that many people are in need of eyeglasses and contact lenses but don't know where to go so we have set up 3 of our City Optical locations to accept private appointments to assist with your eyewear needs.  The 3 locations are as follows:

440 Bathurst Street (Bathurst & College)

2318 Bloor Street West (Bloor & Runnymede)

6365 Yonge Street, Unit 102 (Yonge & Steeles)

You will meet with a licensed optician who will assist you with your eyewear needs.  You and the optician will be the only people in the store and the store will remain closed.  For the health and safety of you and the optician, masks and gloves will be provided and must be worn during the appointment.  Please note, only 2 people will be allowed in the store at one time - you and the optician.  (Children will be permitted to have one parent with them).

(Please be aware that a valid prescription is required.  If you need an eye examination for a new prescription, unfortunately an appointment with an optometrist won't be available until the optometrists have returned to work.  Optometrists are independent practitioners and are not City Optical employees therefore it is beyond our control as to the time when they will be available again for eye examinations.

City Optical is pleased to announce that we have started Curb Side Pickup.


We aware that everyone is anxious to receive their orders and we are working diligently to get them to you as fast as possible.  We have been overwhelmed with requests and due to the large quantities of orders, we have decided to set up Curb Side Pickup at select City Optical locations to allow our customers to receive their orders in a more timely manner.  Curb Side Pickup will be available on certain days at specific times. Curb Side Pickup will be available for two hour windows and you will be notified in advance of the days and times.


(Some orders may need to be delivered depending on your location. You will be notified if this is the case to ensure someone will be available to receive the delivery.)
